Creating PHP MySQL Database Connections

Creating PHP MySQL Database Connections

Creating connections to a MySQL database with PHP in Dreamweaver is very simple.

1.
With a PHP document open, go to the Application panel and click on the Databases tab. Click the plus (+) sign and select the MySQL Connection.

2.
In the MySQL Connection dialog, enter a name for your connection, in this case advoodoo.

The name is only for your benefit in the Dreamweaver UI, so name it something descriptive that is going to help you as you create PHP MySQL pages.

3.
Set the MySQL Server field to the IP address of your MySQL server. If you are running PHP and MySQL on your machine, then you can enter 127.0.0.1.

4.
Enter the User Name and the Password for the database.

5.
Click on the Select button, select the database that you want to use, and click OK.

6.
Test your connection from the MySQL Connection dialog box. Once it tests out correctly, click OK to create the connection.
