Creating ColdFusion Data Sources

Creating ColdFusion Data Sources

Adding new Data Sources in ColdFusion is simple. If you’re testing on a remote server and don’t have access to the ColdFusion administrator, contact your host and have them set up the Data Source for you. If you’re testing locally, open the ColdFusion Administrator from the Start menu.

1.
Log in using the password you supplied when you installed ColdFusion.

2.
Click Data Sources under Data & Services on the left side.

3.
On the Data Sources page enter a name for your Data Source Name, cf_dwmagic for example.

4.
In the Driver drop-down menu, choose Microsoft Access.

5.
Click Add.

6.
On the Microsoft Access Data Source page, click Browse Server next to Database File and browse to your local database. Highlight the mdb file, and click Apply.

7.
Back on the Microsoft Access Data Source page, click Submit.

You should be returned to the Data Sources page with the message “datasource updated successfully.” If you receive any errors, check the Macromedia Support site (www.dwmagic.com/go/5) for more information. For additional information on working with ColdFusion Data Sources, see www.dwmagic.com/go/4.
