Project 4. Controlling Navigation Elements with Templates

Project 4. Controlling Navigation Elements with Templates

Brad Halstead

Brad Halstead plays an active roll in the support forums for Dreamweaver, Contribute, and Project Seven. He is HTML 4.01 Certified. Recently, Brad co-authored Dreamweaver MX Templates and has been accepted as a Team Macromedia Member for Contribute.

While providing support for Contribute 1.0 and 2.0, I noticed that there was no method of creating accessible links in navigational elements of the page. Because it’s important that the navigational elements be accessible. I had to figure out a way of enforcing that—hence this project.

Web site accessibility is one of those Internet buzzwords that isn’t. It is important (depending on the site) that the page be available to not only fully mobile people but also to people who unfortunately have usability restrictions.

Developing this project has led me down paths that I have infrequently encountered, and has taught me a great deal about web site accessibility. Hopefully you will be able to employ this technique or develop your own for your Contribute users.
