Before You Start

To get the most out of Contribute's Office document integration, you need to do a little preparation. First and foremost, you must have the Office programs—Microsoft Word and Excel—installed on your computer. Contribute works with the Office 2000 version or better. Without these programs, even though you will be able to link to Office files, you won't be able to import them into your web pages or copy and paste sections of the document.

The next step is to determine how you would like to work with Word and Excel documents. When you drag and drop an Office document onto a web page, Contribute can either import the document or create a link to it; large documents, however, can only be linked to. By default, Contribute asks which method (import or link) you would like when you insert a Word or Excel file. If you typically choose one method over the other, you can set your preferences to do it your way.
