Chapter 7. Creating New Pages > Creating a Page from a Template

Creating a Page from a Template

The final way of creating a page is by using a template. Contribute has two different kinds of templates. The first template type acts the same way as the Sample Web Pages described in the previous section. The key difference is that the site administrator can designate any page in the site as a template and not rely on those that Contribute supplies.

The second kind of template is created in Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver templates have several special characteristics, including the capability to lock certain areas of the page—such as the logo—while keeping other areas unlocked and able to be changed. Both types of templates are listed under the Templates category of the New Page dialog box.
