Before You Start

You should know a couple of things about page properties before you begin specifying them for your pages. First, if you create a page based on a Dreamweaver template, you can alter only the page title; all the other options are disabled. A small note at the bottom of the Page Properties dialog box reminds you that you are working on a template.

You might also encounter situations in which you alter a page property, such as background color, and your change has no effect. In these cases, the page designer has most likely styled the page with Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and you won't be able to alter the pre-existing choices. Unfortunately, there is no indication in the Page Properties dialog box as to which properties have been set with CSS and which you can change. Your best course is to contact the site administrator for assistance.
