Chapter 13. Adding and Adjusting Tables > Formatting Tables All at Once

Formatting Tables All at Once

Tables with a lot of data can be extremely difficult to read; designers often give alternating rows different background colors to make the table data easier to follow. This is an excellent solution, but it's tedious to implement one row at a time. Luckily, Contribute includes a feature so that you can format all the rows in a table at once—and gives you stylistic control over the first row and column as well.

The Format Table command, found under the Table menu, offers two ways to work: Basic and Advanced. The Basic tab allows you to choose one of 17 different presets—and gives you a handy preview of what to expect. The Advanced tab lets you specify all the individual parameters governed by the selected preset. Together, you have a quick and powerful tool for styling a table full of data—regardless of the size.
