Merging and Splitting Cells

Many tables use a single cell in the top row that spans all the columns. Typically, this cell is used to provide space for a table heading, such as Quarterly Sales Report by Region. To make such a cell—or cells that span multiple rows—you must merge several selected cells.

To merge two or more cells, follow these steps:
