Introduction

In the non-web world, tables are used primarily to hold information or data in a structured manner. Spreadsheets use tables as their basic format, and tables are often included in word processing documents. On the web, tables are available to hold spreadsheet or other structured data, but they can also serve as a layout tool.

A table is made up of a series of horizontal rows and vertical columns. Rows and columns are, in turn, composed of table cells. Any kind of content—text, image, Macromedia Flash movies, and so on—can be placed in a cell. Macromedia Contribute gives you full control over the various properties of a table, such as the alignment, border, and background color, as well as its rows, columns, and cells. You can also add or remove rows or columns as needed.
