Typography as a Three-Step Face-Lift

Imagine this scenario: You have just started a new job as an in-house web designer, and the first thing your boss wants you to do is clean up the web site. She has given you a week (and no money) to do it. This is not to be a complete redesign; that will come later when you have some cash. For now, you just need to give the site a face-lift.

Careful use of typography will elevate a cheap-looking site from garishness to sophistication, and you do not need to spend a dime! By limiting the number of typefaces on a site to two or three nicely contrasting faces, and by using the placement of text to create strong lines, your site will look more elegant and more expensive.
