Carrie Bickner is the Assistant Director for Digital Information and System Design at The New York Public Library. Bickner writes for A List Apart, Library Journal, and Technology Electronic Reviews, as well as for her personal site, roguelibrarian.com. She is the co-author of The NYPL Online Style Guide, a manual for transitioning to CSS and XHTML. She is a popular speaker at conferences such as Web Design World and The Public Library Association annual meeting, as well as SXSW.

She has worked on projects small and large, managing and producing $3,000 sites, $3 million sites, and everything in between. Bickner's current work includes NYPL Digital Gallery, a digital library of more than 100,000 images from the collections of The New York Public Library, and The African-American Migration Experience, an online multimedia encyclopedia documenting 13 phases of the African Diaspora, beginning with the international slave trade.

Carrie lives in New York City. When she has a free moment, she likes dabbling in amateur photography, watching classic movies, and pounding the endless blocks of Manhattan.
