Using the LMS

Using an LMS requires that you divide your eLearning application into logical trackable units. The AICC standard calls these units assignable units (AU), the ADL standard calls them Sharable Content Objects, and others call them simply “learning objects.” Usually these objects are what you’d consider lessons or smaller sections within a course.

WBT Manager has an administration tool that configures a group of learning objects into a course. You set course properties in the Course Properties dialog box, as shown in Figure 15.10. Properties can include whether students can self-enroll and whether the course status is set as “completed” on entry. You can add course structure through this utility or import the course structure by using the AICC standard format for a course description (a file with a .crs file extension).
