Understanding Dreamweaver’s Check In/Out System

Dreamweaver includes an overwrite protection system, enabling team members to check files in and out of the remote site. Dreamweaver’s built-in system isn’t completely secure because it’s possible, although difficult, to overwrite files in the remote site. Dreamweaver’s built-in system, the check in/out system, is adequate control for most small to medium-sized teams to use for online learning application development.

Dreamweaver’s check in/out system works with either FTP or Local/Network access to the remote site. After you enable check in/out in the site definition, you’ll be required to check out files from the remote site before working on them. You’ll also be able to tell which files are checked out by your team members.
