Transferring Your Files To and From the Remote Site

Now you’ll explore actually transferring the files to the remote site. To transfer files, Dreamweaver borrowed some standard FTP command names: Get and Put. The Get command moves files from the remote site to the local site. The Put command moves files from the local site to the remote site. Dreamweaver uses these command names whether you are using FTP, Local/Network, RDS, or the other access types you’ll explore later in this chapter.

Be sure you have Dreamweaver’s Site window open so you can see both the local and the remote sites. The toolbar contains the commands you’ll use to transfer files. You explored the toolbar view buttons, the three buttons on the far left side, and used the Site drop-down menu to change sites in Chapter 4. The following are the other buttons in the Site window toolbar (see Figure 16.6):
