Exploring Evaluation: The E in ADDIE

If you’ve created measurable objectives and effectively trained learners to those objectives, it should be easy to evaluate your results. It might take some patience to wait for learners to take your online training course and put what they’ve learned into action. Don’t get sidetracked and skip this step, though, because it’s an important one!

Although the evaluation phase is discussed at the end of the ADDIE cycle, you will actually be conducting evaluations throughout all the phases. Maybe you should think of this phase as the time you collect data and further evaluate what you’ve done to this point. In this iterative process, you prepare to possibly revisit some of the earlier phases in the cycle. During the evaluation phase, the following documents are produced:
