Using Layers to Position Interface Elements

Dreamweaver layers, another component of DHTML (you learned about CSS in Chapter 5), are also useful when implementing an online learning application interface. Layers are containers that enable you to position content at an exact location on the screen. You position a layer onscreen by setting its left and top attributes or by dragging it into place.

To work with layers, you’ll need to change from Layout view to Standard view because the Draw Layer object and the Layer command (Insert, Layer) aren’t active when you’re in Layout view. To add a layer to your Web page
