Working with the Action Manager Interface

Let’s take a little time to explore the Action Manager interface in depth. You might be amazed to learn that the CourseBuilder interface (and the entire Dreamweaver interface) is programmed in HTML and JavaScript! Because the interface is created with these commonly used scripting languages, extending Dreamweaver’s functionality by creating extensions is easy. You’ve explored a number of extensions in this book, and Chapter 18, “Creating Custom Objects and Commands,” gives you an opportunity to create your own extensions to the Dreamweaver interface.

The disadvantage of creating the CourseBuilder interface in HTML and JavaScript is that some of the shortcuts you are used to in the Windows and Mac operating systems don’t work. For example, you can’t copy with the Ctrl+C or Command+C shortcut keys, and you can’t double-click a collapsed segment to expand it. You’ll need to use the buttons in the Action Manager tab to control these activities.
