Building on the Vision: Identifying and Selecting an Appropriate Conceptual Model

Because the conceptual model is the first layer of the interface, it is as close to a blank page as anything in the design process. However, the purpose of the conceptual model is to solve a specific problem, and the outline of that problem should be contained in the opportunity statement, persona profiles and goals, and concept statement that resulted from the product vision process. With those items in hand, it should be possible to quickly identify a variety of potential models, through either an individual or a group brainstorming session.

“The best way to get a good idea is to get a lot of ideas.”
