Bounding the Problem: Creating a Comprehensive Product Vision

Although the discipline of core design values sets universal metrics, it does not speak to the needs and desires of specific users working with a specific product. A different set of tools is required for that problem. These tools include a collection of documents and exercises that describe the product vision in concrete terms and replace vague and shifting concepts of users with specific descriptions of their goals and characteristics.

“When the outcome drives the process we will only ever go to where we’ve already been. If process drives outcome we may not know where we’re going, but we will know we want to be there.”
