Summary

In this chapter, you have seen how the Dreamweaver coding environment works, and how to make the most of integrating it into your authoring workflow. You can use Dreamweaver for coding tasks from markup to scripting, and can configure it to handle whatever file types you need to edit. You can use the Document window’s Code view or the separate Code inspector panel to do this. And you have a great deal of control over how the code editor formats, rewrites, and displays your code. Finally, if you don’t want to use the internal code editor, you can configure Dreamweaver to link to an external text editor. If you use HomeSite (Windows) or BBEdit (Mac) for this task, special integration features are available; but you can use any text editor you choose. From a coder’s point of view, who needs Design view?
