Summary

In this chapter, you learned how forms work to capture data on the web and process it. You also learned the basics of the HTML code used to build forms, and found out how to use Dreamweaver to quickly add forms and form elements to an HTML document. Using behaviors with forms was discussed; you found out how to use the Validate Form behavior and the Set Text of Text Field behavior. You worked through some issues involving the usability and the appearance of forms, and finished with a look at some of the newer form attributes and CSS styling possibilities.

Connecting an HTML form to the application needed to process is obviously crucial; you’re encouraged to see this book’s chapters on using server-side languages (Chapters 27 through 31) and to look into using the many available Perl CGI scripts and the wealth of information on CGI on the web.
