Chapter 11. Working with Forms > Behaviors and Forms

Behaviors and Forms

Dreamweaver behaviors are some of its most powerful and useful features. A behavior enables the visitor to interact with a web page to change it or to cause certain tasks to be performed, and consists of a combination of HTML and JavaScript written by Dreamweaver. Chapter 16, “Getting Interactive with Behaviors,” looks at Dreamweaver behaviors in depth.

Behaviors can be attached to forms and form objects by using any of the behaviors that appear in the Behaviors panel when the form or object is selected. This chapter discusses two behaviors commonly used with forms, Validate Form and Set Text of Text Field. Note that the scripting being used here is client-side, as opposed to server-side, scripting; all the action takes place before the page is submitted to the server.
