Summary

HTML tables have provided web designers with a workable, cross-browser way to lay out page elements for years. Although positioning with CSS is the W3C recommendation and the direction of things to come, as of this writing, tables are still one of the most reliable page layout techniques.

In this chapter, you looked at the HTML code that makes up tables, learned how to insert and format a table with the Dreamweaver Table Property inspector, went over some do’s and don’ts of table layout, learned to build a flexible page with tables, and looked at the usefulness of tables in building sliced-image pages.
