Simon is assisted by human editors, who pick out products to recommend, articles from Consumer Reports, decision guides (interactive wizards that lead you through the process of deciding which options you really want, ending in a list of products that fit those criteria). The marketing folks at mySimon.com have to walk a tightrope stretched between tooting their own service and rooting for the products they recommend. In between lies an enthusiastic neutrality.
