UltraDev 4 is a result of the combination of features found in two products from Macromedia’s line of Web development software: Dreamweaver and Drumbeat 2000. Whereas Dreamweaver provided the foundation for UltraDev’s HTML authoring capabilities, Drumbeat gave UltraDev the capability to easily connect with databases and generate dynamic Web pages on a variety of platforms.
In 1997, Macromedia released Dreamweaver 1.0. It was one of the most powerful WYSIWYG HTML authoring tools. Dreamweaver combined the power of cross-browser HTML authoring with the capabilities of creating dynamic behaviors using scripting languages like JavaScript.
