Chapter 15. Working with Templates > Changing the Default Document

Changing the Default Document

Whenever you create a new document using Dreamweaver, a new instance of a prebuilt template located in the C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Configuration\DocumentTypes\NewDocuments folder is opened for your use. Depending on what type of file you decide to work with, Dreamweaver includes prebuilt HTML so that you don't have to write it from scratch. For instance, the initial markup for a new HTML document resembles the following:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=">
<title>Untitled Document</title>
</head>
<body>
</body>
</html>
