Hour 14. Using Frames to Display Multipl... > Setting Frame and Frameset Attribute...

Setting Frame and Frameset Attributes

There are separate attributes for the individual frames and the frameset that holds them together. Some of the attributes exist for both frames and framesets (borders, for instance), so you must be careful what attributes you are setting and where you are setting them. You should experiment with frameset designs that come with Dreamweaver to quickly try different attributes.

Setting the Scrolling and Resize Attributes

It's important to consider whether you want the user to be able to scroll the material in a frame. Frame scrollbars can appear either horizontally or vertically in a frame. Horizontal scrollbars are not common and are not generally desirable. Vertical scrollbars are very common and appear when the material in the web page is longer than what is visible in the browser window. You can't turn on horizontal and vertical scrollbars separately; after you enable the scrollbars, you enable both horizontal and vertical scrollbars.
