Hour 16. Formatting Web Pages Using Casc... > Positioning a Div by Using CSS

Positioning a Div by Using CSS

In Hour 15 you worked with positioning layers, created with <div> tags, in a web page. Dreamweaver automatically positioned those layers using CSS! Since you'll be using the Dreamweaver Div Tag object in this hour, I'll refer to containers as div tags instead of layers.

So far this hour, you've applied styles to text. Div tags are useful in positioning objects on the page by using styles. If you need to position content contained in div tags in a consistent place on the screen, it's an excellent idea to define a style for them. The other advantage to using styles is that if you'd like to move all the div tags at once, you can simply edit the style definition.
