Hour 13. Designing Page Layout Using Tab... > Fine-Tuning Your Design in Table Lay...

Fine-Tuning Your Design in Table Layout Mode

When working in Layout mode, I find it's easier to begin adding cells and content in the upper-left corner of the web page. Then I work down and to the right, adding cells, content, and nesting new tables (you'll explore this later this hour). You might find that as you add content and new table cells that the table changes and you have to go back and adjust the existing cells. This seems to happen less if you begin in the upper-left corner of the web page.

There are several tools in Dreamweaver that can help you create a page layout. Turning on Guides (View, Guides, Show Guides) displays lines on the screen that you can use to guide your design. For instance, select View, Guides, 1024×768, Maximized to add guides outlining the page design space you would have available for a web page displayed at that screen resolution.
