Step 3: Customizing the Base Templates

The first task in customizing a base template is always to override the skin macros and the dialog macros. Usually the skin macros are defined in a file called template.pt, and the dialog macros are defined in dialog_macros.pt. Macros are a technology for page templates that allow inserting dynamic code segments during runtime. By modifying macros, you can completely manipulate the look and feel of the existing pages without needing to implement their functionality from scratch.

Your new template.pt file for the board layer might look something like this:
