Workshop

The Workshop area is meant to reinforce your reading with a series of questions and exercises.

Q&A

Q1: Will JavaScript ever work right?
A1: In a large part, the troubles of JavaScript have been eased in recent (5.x+) versions of Internet Explorer and Netscape 6.x. In fact, if we could convince the world to stop using the Netscape 4.x series, we'd avoid a number of Web design hassles.
Q2:The JavaScript action I want isn't available. How can I add it?
A2: You can check the Macromedia Web site for additional actions. Alternatively, if you're a programmer, you can read the “Extending Dreamweaver” documentation that is supplied in the Dreamweaver MX help system.
Q3:Can I cut and paste DHTML into Dreamweaver MX and edit it?
A3: No. You certainly can paste new JavaScript code into the Dreamweaver MX environment, but it isn't going to be editable using the timeline or any of the other tools.
Q4:Which should I use, a plug-in or DHTML?
A4: That's up to you. Do you want to rely on the users having a plug-in, or having a 4.0 or greater browser? You might want to survey your target audience before making a decision.
