Other Things You'll Need

Surprisingly enough, you now have everything you need for a reasonably high volume server. There are still a few very important pieces of information you should gather before proceeding. Unfortunately, I can't really help you with this, because I don't know how your network is configured or the specifics of your operating system. Before moving to the other chapters, you should know two points:

  • How to access your newly configured application server over a network. If you're going to be using your main Dreamweaver MX desktop computer as the application server, that's fine, you can just refer to it by the hostname localhost or the IP address 127.0.0.1.

  • How to access files on the application server. On the Mac, you'll need to access files in the /Library/Webserver/Documents, whereas Windows users will want to get at C:\Inetput\wwwroot. Because both Mac OS X and Windows have very simple means of sharing files, I'll assume you can figure this out on your own. Again, if you're using the same computer for your application server as you are for Dreamweaver MX, this won't matter.
