Standard Server Behaviors

At a basic level, Dreamweaver MX's dynamic Web functions are really very simple—they let you display and change information in a database. The magic is in the way that you combine the available behaviors. Let's take a look at the base-level server behaviors that are available for (almost) all of the application servers in Dreamweaver MX. You'll use all of these, in one way or another, throughout the rest of the book.

Recordsets (Query)

A recordset is a construct that represents all the records returned after the database is queried. Within Dreamweaver MX, you define a recordset by supplying the application with the SQL code that you want it to execute (or by pointing and clicking to develop a simple query), and then sitting back and letting it do the work. The results are returned to the Bindings panel.
