Day 5. Creating Reusable Components > Managing Site Assets

Managing Site Assets

The majority of reusable components we'll look at fall generically under the title “Assets.” An asset is exactly what you would expect, something that is used to build your site. You can store, reuse, and delete assets whenever you'd like. There are nine basic types of assets:

Images— Any image referenced in your site is included in the Images assets.

Colors— Color assets contain any HTML colors used on your site.

URLs— URLs linking pages to other pages or resources.

Flash— Macromedia Flash files used in the site.

Shockwave— Macromedia Shockwave files.

Movies— Any movies (embedded or otherwise) are listed in the Movie assets.

Scripts— JavaScript or VBScript code.

Templates— Template pages for creating a consistent look and feel.

Library— Library elements are commonly used portions of pages.
