Week: 3 At a Glance > Applied Techniques: Data Collection and Reporting

Day 16. Applied Techniques: Data Collection and Reporting

Thus far, you've learned how to input data and display queries from a database—but there has been very little integration of these two processes. When a Web site is displaying dynamic data, there is often a back end to that Web site that is used to update the stored data.

Today's lesson will focus on creating a message board system that uses both data collection and reporting techniques. This will draw together almost all of Dreamweaver MX's capabilities into a single application. You'll find out how to:

  • Design a Web message board system from the ground up—including the support databases

  • Implement a user-based message system without the need for a separate user database

  • Create a system that can easily be expanded and reused
