Exercises

Now to try your hand at creating your own Cascading Style Sheets. Use these exercises to help build up your style sheet experience to a level where you will feel confident applying this feature on your Web pages.

1:Create a practice site (refer to Hour 2).

Create an external style sheet with an Element style that removes the underlines from links and also includes a Class style for a headline. Choose to simply change the color and size of the Headline style.

Apply this style to many pages, and then reopen the external style sheet and modify the text attributes.

2:Experiment with margins and indents. Set a positive margin value (10px) in the Block section of the CSS Style Inspector. In the Text section of the Inspector, change the text indent to a –10px value. You have created a hanging indent.
3:Experiment with Element styles and tables. Each cell's contents are in a <TD> tag. Name an Element style TD, and experiment with styles that you might want to apply to the contents of tables.
