Hour 8. Creating Image Maps and Navigati... > Adding a Navigation Bar with Rollove...

Adding a Navigation Bar with Rollovers and Links

What if you want to create a bunch of rollover images as a navigation bar? And what if you wanted them to have a down button state, too? You could create all these buttons individually, or you could use the Dreamweaver Insert Navigation Bar object to create all the buttons at once.

You simulate a button by swapping images that are the same size but look slightly different. Each image represents a button state. The default button state is up. The down state appears when the user clicks the mouse on the button; the down state image usually modifies the up state so that it looks pressed down. The over state appears when the user passes his mouse over the button. The navigation bar can also add an “over when down” state, appearing when the user rolls the mouse over the button when it is already in the down state. You must add an up state image to a navigation bar, but all the other button states are optional.
