Part: VII Appendices > Customizing Dreamweaver

Appendix B. Customizing Dreamweaver

The Dreamweaver API (Application Programming Interface) provides developers with the power to extend Dreamweaver's capabilities. A thorough understanding of HTML and JavaScript are required to develop custom behavior actions, floating panels, data translators, and other extensions. However, Dreamweaver enables all developers to create custom objects, customize the Insert bar, and create new commands.

There are developers skilled in JavaScript who create Dreamweaver behaviors, objects, commands, and floating panels that you can download free from the Web. See Appendix A, “Resources,” for the URLs to some of these sites. When Dreamweaver doesn't seem to have a behavior, object, or command for what you are trying to accomplish in your Web page, search these Web sites, and you might find just what you need.
