Part VII: Appendixes > Setting Up the Programs

Setting Up the Programs

To install any of the programs and files on the bonus CD-ROM, begin in Windows and close any programs that are running (except Windows). Then follow these steps:

Insert into your CD-ROM drive the Sams Teach Yourself to Create Web Pages in 24 Hours CD-ROM.

Wait a few moments. If a screen with this book's title appears, go on to Step 3. (If not, open My Computer from your Windows desktop and double-click the icon for your CD-ROM drive.)

On the screen that shows the book's title, click the CD Menu link in the upper-right corner.

On the CD-ROM menu, you find links and icons for all the programs and other useful files on the CD-ROM. A group of icons for installing several programs appears in the lower-left corner of the CD-ROM menu; links for installing all other programs and files appear in a list along the right side of the menu.

To learn more about any program before installing it, consult the “What's on the CD?"/>” section, later in this appendix.

To install anything you see on the CD-ROM menu, click its icon or link. The Installation Wizard for the program you selected opens and leads you step-by-step through the installation of the program you selected. Simply follow the instructions that appear.

When you have finished installing a program, the CD-ROM menu reappears so that you can install another program, if you want.

When you've finished installing programs, click the Exit link at the bottom of the CD-ROM menu. Then click Yes on the credits screen when prompted with “Exit the CD?”

Some programs might prompt you to restart your computer to complete the installation. If you must restart, but still want to install more programs, repeat Steps 1–3 to redisplay the CD-ROM menu.
