Hour 13. Getting Pictures for Your Page > Previewing Images in Windows

Previewing Images in Windows

Sometimes, it can be tricky to find the image file you want just from its filename. Any number of terrific programs are available for browsing the images on your hard drive or on a CD-ROM—showing each picture to help you find the one you want.

If you have Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows Me, or Windows XP (sorry—this feature doesn't work in Windows 95), you can preview any picture just by single-clicking its file icon in a folder; a preview of the picture appears in the folder window, to the left of the file icons, as shown in Figure 13.7. (If you see no preview, choose View, As Web Page from the folder's menu bar.) Previewing pictures this way makes finding and selecting the right picture easier when you plan to insert images in Composer.
