Part VI: Getting it Online > Developing Your Authoring Skills

Hour 24. Developing Your Authoring Skills

This is it—la chapitre finale. And guess what? I tell you nothing here that immediately adds to your authoring skill set. (I know—it's a cheap trick. It's like when they forced you to show up for the last day of high school and then let you goof off all day anyway.)

What you do get in this hour is a graduation speech, or, rather, a send-off with a purpose. If you've hit most or all of this tutorial, you've built a solid foundation as an author. But there's always more to learn, always that one new trick that can make a good Web page into a great one. You now possess all the prerequisites needed to understand more advanced authoring information that you might find in other books or on the Web. So in this last hurrah, you find tips for developing your new skills.

At the end of this hour, you'll be able to answer the following questions:

  • How can I get my own dot-com, my own domain, as the address of the pages I publish?

  • When I outgrow Composer, what's next?

  • What practices can help me grow as a Web author, no matter what tools I use?

  • What can I read now to take me to the next level?
