Q&A

Q1:What databases can be used with UltraDev?
A1: Almost any modern database includes both ODBC and JDBC drivers—even Microsoft's SQL server. You'll have no problem finding a way to connect to almost any database.
Q2:How can connections be transferred between computers?
A2: Connections are stored directly with the site files in a Connections directory. Any user who defines his site using the same parameters will have access to the same connection definitions. Earlier versions of UltraDev stored the connection information in the connections.xml file, which was located in the Connections folder within the Configuration folder. If you are using UltraDev 1.0, you can copy this file between different computers so that they all share the same connection information.
Q3:Why can't you use a JDBC drivers from within ASP?
A3: ASP does not natively support JDBC drivers. Although it's possible to provide a workaround, UltraDev only supports generating straight ADO ASP code.
Q4:What functions aren't supported in MySQL that I might need?
A4: The primary missing functions are views and stored procedures. For complex applications, you'll probably want a database that does support these functions, or you can edit the auto-generated server code to add the functionality you need.
