Setting Up an ODBC Data Source to Microsoft Access

Many users will have Microsoft Access already installed on their computers and can use it for their UltraDev connections. As with MySQL, you can set up an Access-specific ODBC driver and use it within UltraDev. If MS Access is on your machine, the ODBC driver should be ready to use.

1.
Click Start.

2.
Choose Settings, Control Panel from the submenu.

3.
Double-click the ODBC Data Sources control panel in Windows 9X/NT. In Windows 2000, click Administrative Tools and then Data Sources (ODBC).

4.
Click the System DSN tab.

5.
Click Add.

6.
Choose the Microsoft Access driver from the list, and then click Finish.

7.
Fill in the appropriate information for the driver configuration, shown in Figure 8.15. Then click OK. Your data source is ready to use.

Figure 8.15. Setting up an Access database for ODBC access really requires nothing more than a data source name and a database file.
