Answers for Day 21, “Testing and Deploying Dynamic Applications”

1: What happens when you try to display a table with no end tag in Netscape?
A1: The contents of the table are not displayed on the screen. This is different from Internet Explorer, which assumes that you wanted to end the table and does it for you.
2: What feature of cascading style sheets should be avoided at all costs?
A2: Relatively positioned objects that have links in them. Netscape renders the links in relatively positioned objects as if that object was located in the upper-right corner of the document. The layout looks right, but is non-functional.
3: How can you prevent a not null error on an input form?
A3: Validate the form using the Validate Form JavaScript behavior. This will guarantee that the form is filled in before the data is sent to the server.
4: How can you limit the amount of input so that it doesn't exceed the limits of the database?
A4: Using simple input fields, you can do this with the “Max chars” attribute of the field. Unfortunately, this is not available for multi-line fields, which is where it actually counts.
