Building the Login Screen

As we mentioned earlier, the testing screen is the primary screen for handling the interactions with the user. It is not, however, the first screen that we need to build. In order to store the information that a user enters on the Web site, the system must first know who the user is. This needs to be a somewhat secure system, so we'll build this login system using Macromedia's authentication routines and the MM_Username session variable that you've seen in previous chapters.

There's nothing special about this login screen. All we really need is a username and a password prompt. Go ahead and design a basic screen now. Be sure to name your username and password fields appropriately, as well as the form they are contained in.
