Q&A

Q1:Every time I use the polygon tool I make a mess of it. I get extra points in the wrong section of the image map. What am I doing wrong?
A1: When you use the polygon tool to create a hotspot remember to click, click, click around the edges of the hotspot border. After you have defined the border do not click the image again. Instead, immediately select the pointer hotspot tool to signal Dreamweaver that you are finished creating the polygon hotspot.
Q2:How can I create a server-side image map?
A2: A server-side image map references a program on the server to process clicks on an image map. You'll need to reference the image map program on the Web server by linking your entire image map to the program's URL. You will also need to create a text file, in the proper format, listing all the coordinates and URLs. Your Web administrator can tell you how to create this file, where to store it, and how to name it.

You can use the hotspot coordinates that Dreamweaver creates to make the coordinates text file required for a server-side image map. Also, you can have both client-side and server-side maps defined for the same image on a Web page.
