When the Database Is Overloaded

I’ve tried to overload Oracle by making too many connections too fast, and I haven’t been able to get it to crash during a test. What does happen is that new connections time out or fail to be made. Some of this may be due to the overflow of TCP listen queue. See Chapter 15 for information about the listen queue. If an Oracle process is trying to connect to an Oracle database and logging connections, you’ll see errors like these:

TNS-00505: Operation timed out
TNS-12535: TNS:operation timed out
TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
