Lesson 11. Using Cascading Style Sheets > Editing a style in a style sheet

Editing a style in a style sheet

You'll continue the lesson by editing another style in the internal style sheet. This time you'll edit the style of the p element to change the margins of the body text.

1.
Click the Open CSS Editor button at the top of the document window to open the CSS Editor window if it is not already open.

2.
In the CSS Editor window, select the p element under the Internal folder. Notice its attributes displayed in the Selector and Properties tab in the CSS Editor.

3.
Click the Margins and Padding Properties button () in the CSS Editor. The right and left margins are currently set to 2%.

4.
Enter 5% in the side margin text boxes, and press Enter or Return to indent the margins proportionally.

Notice how the left and right margins around all body text adjusts in the document window.

As you can see, properties can control the font, text (including the indentation, spacing, and alignment), box or document boundaries, positioning, border, background, and list elements. Values specify measurements or colors.
