Lesson 9. Using Actions and JavaScript > Creating a browser switch action

Creating a browser switch action

Visitors using older Web browsers may not see a Web page correctly if it contains features and technology such as JavaScript, frames, and layers. It's important to provide a way for those viewers to see an alternative page when they view your Web site. You can also use a browser-switch script to direct visitors using Netscape and Internet Explorer browsers to separate pages if your page contains elements that are not supported equally by both browsers.

A browser switch action automatically takes viewers to any page you designate, even if it's only a page saying that your site doesn't support their browser. (Note that the browser-switch script isn't recognized by version 2.0 browsers and Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.01 for Mac OS.)
