Importing a Web page

You'll create this second page by importing a page that has been partly built for you and then adding to the content of the page.

1.
In the Files tab of the site window, click the pages folder to select it. Selecting the pages folder ensures that the page you are about to add will be added inside the pages folder.

2.
Choose File > Import > Files to Site.

3.
In the Add to Site dialog box, navigate to the folder Lessons/Lesson01/01Start/, and select the file questions.html. Click Open.

4.
If necessary, click the plus sign or triangle next to the pages folder to expand the folder. You've added the questions.html page to your site, but as you can see, its status shows that the page has broken links ().

You'll fix that shortly as you link the empty placeholders to images.

5.
In the site window, double-click on questions.html to open the file.

Your new page already has a title, “Burning Questions for First Strike Matches,” and the background color has been added, as have a layout grid and several image placeholders.

Before you link the placeholders to images, you'll open the media folder in your site window.

6.
In the site window, click the plus sign or triangle next to the media folder to show its contents.

7.
Scroll to the top of the document window if necessary, and click to select the image placeholder at the top left of the page.

8.
With the image placeholder selected, drag from the pick whip button () in the Basic tab of the Image Inspector to the file burning.gif in the media folder in the site window. Remember that if the media file is closed, you can drag from the pick whip button and hold the pointer over a folder to open that folder. You can also hold the pointer at the bottom of the site window (below the visible file names) to scroll down the window.

Now you'll link the three image placeholders at the bottom of the page. Later you'll use these images to create navigation buttons for the site.

9.
Scroll to the bottom of the document window.

10.
Select the leftmost image placeholder. In the Basic tab of the Image Inspector, drag from the pick whip button and link it to the file questions2.gif. Using the same procedure that you used in Step 8, select the center image placeholder and link it to the file features.gif. Select the rightmost image placeholder and link it to the file main.gif.

11.
Choose File > Save to save the page.
